A spot Litecoin ETF has a 90% chance of securing approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2025, according to Bloomberg ETF analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas.

The analysts believe Litecoin’s regulatory path is clearer than that of other crypto ETFs currently under review, including those for Solana (70%), XRP (65%), and Dogecoin (75%). Posting on X, Seyffart and Balchunas noted that Litecoin’s S-1 and 19b-4 filings have already been acknowledged by the SEC, and the agency likely considers Litecoin a commodity, similar to Bitcoin.

Litecoin’s Advantage in the Crypto ETF Race

Litecoin, originally launched in 2011 as a faster alternative to Bitcoin, runs on a proof-of-work consensus mechanism similar to BTC’s, which could make it easier for regulators to approve.

The interest in crypto ETFs follows the huge success of Bitcoin and Ether spot ETFs, which have attracted $40.7 billion and $3.18 billion in net inflows, respectively, since their launches in January and July 2024, according to Farside Investors.

Seyffart believes a Litecoin ETF won’t match Bitcoin’s or Ethereum’s demand, but suggests that even ETFs with as little as $50 million in assets can be profitable for fund issuers.
