On May 9, BlackRock representatives met with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Crypto Task Force to discuss regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs). The discussions focused on incorporating staking features into Ethereum ETFs and advancing the tokenization of traditional assets like bonds and stocks. 

BlackRock emphasized that enabling staking within Ethereum ETFs could enhance investor returns by allowing participation in Ethereum's proof-of-stake mechanism. The firm also highlighted its $2.9 billion BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) as a step towards integrating blockchain technology into traditional finance.

The meeting also addressed the need for clear regulatory standards for crypto ETPs, including guidelines for options trading and liquidity thresholds. BlackRock's engagement with the SEC reflects a broader industry push to align innovative financial products with existing regulatory frameworks.
