On May 11, a critical vulnerability in the Mobius Token (MBU) smart contract on BNB Chain was exploited, resulting in a loss of approximately $2.15 million. The attacker leveraged a flaw in the token's minting mechanism to create 9.73 quadrillion MBU tokens using just 0.001 BNB. These tokens were swiftly converted into stablecoins and routed through Tornado Cash to obscure the transaction trail.
